1. Test the basic voltage of the battery (with the vehicle turned off)

If the voltage is below 13V or above 15V, there may be a fault in the generator.

3. Test the load voltage of the generator (turn on the onboard electrical appliances)

Steps:

Keep the engine running (at approximately 2000 RPM, lightly press the accelerator).

Turn on high-power appliances such as headlights, air conditioning, and sound system.

Measure the battery voltage again.

Normal value:

The voltage should be maintained between 13V and 14.5V;

If the voltage drops below 12V, the generator may not be able to carry the load.

4. Test diodes or voltage regulators (optional)

Detecting Ripple Voltage:

Adjust the multimeter to the AC voltage range (select 20V AC).

Connect the red probe to the positive terminal of the battery and the black probe to the negative terminal.

Normal value:

AC voltage ≤ 0.5V;
